"Username and password do not match administrator account"

We are building a POC box to test UTS 5.1 (Mac mini Server running 10.9.5).

After running UTS5 installer (latest 5.1), we are getting this error when we try to log in using the default username/password:

“Username and password do not match administrator account”

I don’t see any articles or discussions (aside from one back in UTS3 days).

Fresh server box, fresh install, how do we resolve?

Thanks to Stephen Trejo at Priority Support, we got a quick fix and explanation. The Mac we were setting up the UTS5 POC on did not have proper DNS (I know, our bad!). The fix:

  1. Uninstall using:
    /Applications/Extensis/Universal\ Type\ Server/applications/Universal\ Type\ Server\ Uninstaller.pkg

  2. Remove these items:
    /Library/Extensis/UTS/
    /Applications/Extensis/Universal\ Type\ Server/
    /Library/Preferences/extensis.uts.preferences.plist

  3. Add tais line to /etc/hosts:
    127.0.0.1 ..com

  4. Run the UTS5 installer again.

  5. Confirm you are able to log in to Server Admin (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:18081).

  6. Re-enter serial number (or it’ll stay on standby mode)

The fix takes about 10 minutes, and BAM we’re back up and running again.
